KRAIBURG TPE launches advanced weather- and UV-resistant optimized roof rack

October KRAIBURG TPE®
Released customized versions of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) solutions to meet functional and design requirements for roof rails, trim strips and luggage racks in the automotive exterior market. These solutions not only offer outstanding durability and flexibility, but also meet sustainability goals. Latest range of sustainable TPEs for automotive exteriors highlights KRAIBURG TPE®
A commitment to environmentally friendly manufacturing provides manufacturers with greener options for exterior automotive parts.

The THERMOLAST® R RC/UV/AP range combines cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices to offer a range of benefits to the automotive industry. This series contains 15% – 40%
of post-consumer recycled content and an excellent hardness range (50 – 90 Shore A) to meet a variety of application needs.

The RC/UV/AP series has excellent performance in all aspects, such as weather resistance and UV resistance, and the former has successfully passed the 2-year Florida test. This ensures that automotive parts manufactured using this range of materials maintain their integrity and appearance under harsh environmental conditions.

The RC/UV/AP series further highlights its unique features through its excellent lagging performance, especially when lagging with PP and PE. The series works well with multi-component injection molding processes, allowing easy assembly of parts such as roof rail covers, which increases the strength and appearance of the part.

In addition, the series exhibits excellent thermal stability, maintaining its performance attributes even at operating temperatures up to 90°C. This feature ensures the use of THERMOLAST® R
Reliability and service life of automotive parts manufactured by RC/UV/AP series.

Perfectly aligned with sustainable practices, the RC/UV/AP range uses recyclable materials and responds to the industry’s growing demand for environmentally friendly and recyclable solutions.

Ideal applications for this range include roof rack seals and covers, roof rail underlays and roof rail bases.

In addition to the above series, KRAIBURG TPE
A variety of custom thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds are also available, designed to meet the specific needs and preferences of automotive customers. These tailor-made solutions are designed to provide unique performance, functionality and design to meet the manufacturer’s individual requirements.
